Society & Culture:Philosophy
Listen out for elephants, lions and the beautiful birdsong of the African bush!
Sit back and think of Africa!
So, today's episode of the Travelling Optimist Podcast with me Steve Ody is all about escape, a chance to press reset and trust me, I’m pressing that button a lot at the moment!
It’s a beautiful chance to getaway, transport yourself to a place of unrivalled, wonderfulness. We’re going to Africa on The Travelling Optimist Podcast and talk to a safari guide, naturalist and professional photographer and hopefully leave you wanting to take your next adventure to Zambia and Zimbabwe.
He studied Zoological Conservation at University, managed camps across Africa, he is one of just a few hundred original South Luangwa guides and moved to Zambia where he worked for several years before coming home to set up Armstrong Safaris.
Matt Armstrong is founder and head guide of Armstrong Safaris and what has always struck me whenever I meet up or speak to Matt is his passion for wildlife and giving clients a safari experience that leaves them in awe of his experience and knowledge. His photography really captures Africa in a true and raw sense.
So, lets all transport ourselves to Africa and have a chat with Matt about his time in Africa.
Matt can be contacted through his website https://www.armstrongsafaris.com/ and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/armstrong_safaris/
"Just being there is enough” Matt truly believes that just being in wild spaces is really what the whole safari experience should be about. Whatever you see is a bonus and funnily enough, the more you surrender to being in the wild and letting her show you all sides of her, then you generally end up seeing a great deal more that if you were to “chase” sightings.
Matt's photography skills comes from a love of wildlife. Here are his 6 top tips for photographing in the bush.
Matt's photography has also been transferred into art through https://www.emilylamb.co.uk. You can buy Emily's art and 100% of all proceeds go towards fighting wildlife crime.
The next amazing show will be out soon. Don't forget to subscribe, review and rate on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Thanks for listening and keep dreaming of Africa!
Take care everyone.
Hugs.
Steve.
