Maryanne is a corporate attorney for a medical software corporation. Maryanne shares that she was was always thin, but gained weight in college. Once she reached her highest weight after having her son, she followed Weight Watchers with friends at work. With counting points, the weight came off easily, but was extremely difficult to maintain. By the winter of 2018, Maryanne shares, "I knew I needed to do something when I saw myself in our family's holiday 2018 pictures, but knew it had to be something different." She no longer desired to count points nor buy expensive diet food.
In January of 2019, Maryanne found intermittent fasting from a friend who had lost weight by living an IF lifestyle. She told Maryanne about Delay, Don't Deny, and the DDD Facebook group. After some IF research, she began with 16:8, quickly moving to 20:4.
Maryanne has gone from 153 pounds to 126 pounds. Her sinus inflammation and cystic acne are both gone. She sleeps better and is "loaded with energy." For her, the best thing about IF is the energy and freedom from having to decide to what to eat all day.
The advice she'd give to new IFers: "Stick to clean fasting. Don't be afraid to test yourself to do longer fasts. Find a great network of people who support you."
