Power and Control in Children's Eating -what we all need to know
Here the Beckies chat about Children's eating habits and the role of the adult .
We talk about our own experiences at school lunchtime how we felt, and what made us overwhelmed and what made us feel listened to.
Understanding the power of the person in control of the child's eating is fundamental to create healthy eating habits for life.
In the moment eating , where do schemas come into eating ?
Put yourself in the position of the child, trust that they know when they are hungry, children have an inbuilt system that tells them when to eat and when they are full, we do not want to alter this. As adults we eat when we want and how much we want,.
By having just one more spoonful before pudding, what message are we actually telling the child?
The treasured times of snack and lunch determines how children feel about themselves for life, as adults in the child's life we need to look at our own experiences to discover why we think the way we do about food.
