Mathew Shaeffer is history research associate at the John Locke Foundation. Shaeffer earned his bachelor's degree in history from N.C. State University and is working on his master's in history from N.C. State with a focus on 20th-century American culture, specifically in the Cold War era. His thesis deals with the reflection of American values and historical events in "The Amazing Spider-Man" comics.
