In continuing this month's focus on communication, I want to talk today about having respect in our conversations. Not only giving respect, but also standing up for ourselves in making sure that we are also receive respect back from others. Without respect, healthy and open conversations will not go far nor will they last long. Respect, mutual respect, makes it so all those involved in conversations are on equal ground. As I mentioned previously, respect helps eliminate the Horsemen of Contempt. Mutual Respect lets us know that what not only what we have to say is valued, but that our time in being the listener is also import. Respect shows that we matter enough to those who are wanting to engage with us, as well as letting those around us know that they matter to us as well.
