Therapists Are People Too (T.A.P.T.)
Health & Fitness:Mental Health
In this week's episode, we tackle the vulnerable subject of rebuilding trust in relationships. Listen as we talk about what can break trust in familial, platonic, and romantic relationships and how to rebuild trust with clients. Dive in as we discuss what makes us feel safe and protected, and a new wave of cancel culture, and how folks refuse to repair relationships when trust has been broken.
Key takeaway for this week’s episode:
1. We can talk about trust without talking about communication. Whenever possible transparency is always they way to go. Tell others what makes you feel safe and secure. Acknowledge when someone has broken trust in the relationship with you.
2. Unpack what you have learned and how you have learned about trust during your childhood. Recognize signs of mistrust and secure bonds and attachment.
3. Start with trusting yourself and your instincts. You can tell a lot about how people react to things and how they behave.
4. Trust is a building process and it is not a black and white process. If you want meaningful relationships in your life then you have to practice trusting others and trusting yourself.
