Welcome back to another episode of the Drive & Dish NBA Podcast, hosted by Kevin
Rafuse (@rafusetolose) & Justin Cousart (@JustinContheAir). Justin is off this week, so
Kevin is joined by guest host Sam B. Albuquerque (@SamBAlbuquerque), host of the
Take a Left at Albuquerque podcast. First up in Warm-Up Jumpers, the guys talk the
The all-Star game officially getting canceled this season because of Coronavirus. Kevin
discusses why he’s actually disappointed, after a fun game last season. Sam also
discusses his recent success on the Nike Snkrs app, where he’s been able to get not 1,
but 2 pairs of Jordan’s recently. He breaks down his good fortune. After a quick break,
Kevin & Sam returns to finally break down the NBA draft. The two discuss why they still
believe LaMelo Ball has the highest ceiling, but why Anthony Edwards & James
Wiseman going #1 and #2 makes sense. The guys also discuss some sleepers from the
first round, and which lottery picks came as surprises. Moving on from the draft, Kevin &
Sam dive right back into a busy free agency period across the league. First up is big-money extensions for the class of 2017, with multiple players getting the max deal. The
two then dive into some winners & losers from the overall free agency period. The guys
debate how high Phoenix & Portland can rise in the West after some splashy moves this
offseason. Kevin puts his homer hat on and discusses how Daryl Morey has also
reshaped the Sixers roster so quickly and why there is actually hope again in Philly.
Sticking in the East, the guys also take a look at Milwaukee’s moves and if it’s enough
to keep Giannis happy, plus try to figure out what on Earth the Detroit Pistons are doing.
The Atlanta Hawks also spent big. While they now look like playoffs locks, is it enough
to really make a dent in the conference. Sam ends the show by discussing his Lakers, and why they should be the clear favorites to repeat as champions heading into the season.
