Amen, that is, so shall it be.
Make strong our faith in You, that we
may doubt not but with trust believe
that what we ask we shall receive.
Thus in Your name and at Your Word
we say, "Amen, O hear us, Lord!"
(LSB #766.9)
Amen. It shall be so. We end each prayer with the sure and certain confidence that God has heard and will answer our prayer. This confidence leaves all doubt about God's existence or knowledge or care behind. Saying "Amen", we are firmly grounded in God's love and care for each one of us.
When you pray, do not doubt that God hears your prayer. Do not doubt that God will answer. Even though God may answer the prayer with a "no", we still say, "Amen, it shall be so," because we will receive an answer. It's not a name-it-and-claim-it thing. It's a faith thing. It's believing Jesus' words, "Whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He will give it to you" (John 16:23). It shall be so. Amen.
