About: Lee Thistlethwaite has enjoyed a 30 year career in international corporate and private banking. He retired from banking in 2003. Since then he has worked as an independent consultant to families of wealth, first based in Geneva and then from 2012 based in London.
Today, Lee is the founder and owner of Thistlethwaite Associates Limited, which he formed in 2012. His focus is advising families of wealth and their family offices in four key areas:
governance, risk, strategy and succession.
Lee works with individuals, families, family offices and their advisors where the complexity and size of their wealth or business requires his discreet advice; and where there is a need for an independent viewpoint. His client families have embraced different cultures and generations; and span different countries and jurisdictions.
Prior to developing his consulting practice, Lee held a number of key positions during his 25 years at JP Morgan. Initially he worked with companies in the oil, gas and mining industries in London, New York and Melbourne. The second half of his career was in JP Morgan’s Private Bank located in Geneva. When he retired at Managing Director level, Lee was the senior international credit officer globally, ex the United States. He was also a member of Morgan’s Private Bank Executive Management Committee.
Lee started his banking career working for the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation in the 1970s, based in Hong Kong.
