12/4: Governors and mayors order new COVID-19 restrictions while the U.S. passes daily records in cases and deaths.
The United States had more coronavirus cases than ever yesterday, with more than 217,000 new infections. Daily deaths are also far higher, with nearly 2,900 yesterday alone. President-elect Joe Biden is calling on Congress to break the deadlock on a relief bill for Americans hit by the pandemic. In a new interview, Mr. Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris also say they both plan to take a vaccine once Dr. Anthony Fauci says it's safe. President Trump did not address the surge of new COVID cases yesterday, but he did say Attorney General William Barr isn't working hard enough to find evidence of election fraud. CBS News spoke exclusively with John Ratcliffe, in his first network interview as Director of National Intelligence.
