Mindful recitation of Lalita Sahasranama improves your concentration, memory and brings lot of other good things. What is mindful recitation? How do you recite a hymn, a stotra, and a sahasranama mindfully? If you don’t do it mindfully, don’t bother doing it. If you can’t do it mindfully, don’t’ bother with all this. Instead, watch TV, watch a movie, sleep or do something better. Either you got to have that devotion in you that mindfulness will come about on it own. Or you got to train your mind to be mindful. How do you do that? So, one way is if I am chanting say for example too fast, I might not be mindful while I am chanting. I might be thinking of my work, my home, my family, my finances and all the other things that I don’t want to be thinking when I am praying.
At that time, it is better to slow down, stop and pause. Just completely stop. And then does not matter how long it takes you, even if you can’t do the full sahasranama don’t feel bad. It’s no sin. Whatever you can do mindfully. I might just close my eyes or meditate and go slow or even slower.
