It's the festive tale of a big city gal (the superb Barbara Stanwyck) who writes a popular Martha Stewart-esque column and has to be the perfect Martha Stewart-esque hostess for the holidays when her demanding boss (Sydney Greenstreet) and a very handsome war hero (Dennis Morgan) decide they want to spend Christmas in Connecticut with her on her farm. The only problem? The farm and her persona are pure fiction. Chaos, comedy, and romance ensue. Come for the cozy Christmas vibes and stay for the feminist undertones and the murder's row of supporting character actors in this delightful and underrated holiday classic.
