News:On episode 160, we talked about the holiday hours for the Downtown Disney District. This week it was announced that the shopping area will not be open for Christmas Day. Cast members were able to experience “WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure” in the new Avenger’s Campus area of the park. Cast Members reported liking the new attraction and said it was similar to the Transformers attraction in Universal Studios. At Disneyland, the Toy Story Midway Mania attraction is the most similar. – https://www.micechat.com/277730-disneyland-resort-update-holiday-twist-and-avengers-surprise/ Avenger’s Campus will include a WEB Supply Shop at the exit of the new WEB SLINGERS attraction, which will sell the Spider-Bots that are already for sale around Downtown Disney. The Spider-Bots will also be upgradable with new skills, personalities, and sounds. Near Guardians of the Galaxy side of the campus, the Avenger’s store and the PYM test kitchen will be located. The Avenger’s building which includes the Quinn Jet on the roof will one day be the home to a new attraction, which is delayed indefinately at this point. That means it is time for the 2021 merchandise to arrive at the resort. This year, the design has moved away from the design style of the last few years and matches the design style which was used on the 2020-2021 16 month calendars. The design centers around bright primary colors including red, blue, yellow, white, and black. This time, it isn’t an attraction based project, but do it yourself paper ornaments, AND themed sheets to make your own wrapping paper! The ornaments are meant to be cut out and built for “the twelve days of ornaments”. The designs feature Bengal Batbeque, Tom Sawyer Island, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Hyperspace Mountain and more. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/12/disney-parks-blog-presents-disney-paper-parks-holiday-edition-designed-by-walt-disney-imagineering-part-1/ The Disney Dreamers Academy was presented in a virtual format this year for 100 teens around the US. The academy was a 12-week program that offered noted professionals and celebrities talking about topics including empowerment, overcoming obstacles, and pursuing goals. Diney Dreamers were awarded a career shadowing externiship in their field of interest, including Imagineering, Walt Disney Studios, ABC, Pixar, and more. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/12/be-100-first-disney-dreamers-academy-virtual-program-series-culminates-with-a-stirring-commencement-celebration/ The annual Children’s Hospital of Orange County, or CHOC, Walk to support the CHOC foundation to help sick children and their families, will be virtual next year.
