怎麼樣才叫醜毛衣呢？上面最好要有又紅又綠的鮮豔顏色，並且還要有聖誕節的圖樣：聖誕老公公、聖誕樹、雪花、拐杖糖、聖誕帽

最早這些「醜」毛衣其實不是故意要醜的，是因為許多是家裡面自己織的，如哈利波特第一集的Ron的毛衣，一不小心就成了悲劇。

到了後來，因為影視明星開始開玩笑的穿上毛衣，傻氣的聖誕毛衣也正式開始成為了應景的節慶一部分。
