Ten Commandments (Part 3)

Basis: Grace Means: Faith Object: Jesus The Law constantly reminds us of: • Our sinfulness • Our need for a Savior • Our need for God’s enabling power to obey Commandments 1-4: Reverence for God Commandments 5-10: Respect for others Reverence for God 1st Command: No god but God. 2nd Command: Don’t worship the true God in the wrong way. 3rd Command: Don’t treat God’s Name in a frivolous manner. 4th Command: Remember the Sabbath by keeping it holy Respect for others 5th Command: Honor your father and your mother. 6th Command: You shall not murder. Basis for Command • God is the sovereign Creator • Man is made in the image of God. 7th Command: You shall not commit adultery. Any sexual encounter outside that covenant of marriage is adultery. Love desires the person. Lust desires the portion. 8th Command: You shall not steal. All it takes for us to break this command is one wasted hour at work.
