Chapter 49 - Cyberpunk 2077 Sued By Investors, Video Game Revenue Exceeds Sports & Movies, Nintendo Turns Down Kanye West Game, Mega Man 2
Happy 2021 from all of us at Story Mode! But before we give 2020 a kiss goodbye (and a kick out the door), we're revisiting the biggest news stories that defined the year -- the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the video game industry, the release of the PlayStation 5 & XBox Series X, and Cyberpunk 2077's drama-filled year.
Before that, however, we've got game announcements (like free Crash Team Racing and Maneater), as well as the week's biggest headlines. We're discussing the lost Game Boy add-on called the Work Boy, the Japanese Mario Kart company Mari Mobility's no good, awful, very bad year, the strange Nintendo/Kanye West collaboration that never was, and Nintendo's rollout of special Starlight Switch gaming stations into children's hospitals.
Finally, we wrap up this first show of the new year with a look back at Mega Man 2 on the game's 32nd anniversary. And yes, there's more singing.
