Episode 102: Teaching Replacement Skills for Children with Trauma with Danielle Lindquist and Amanda Wilson
When thinking about reducing problem behaviors, we actually want to focus on increasing missing positive behaviors. These replacement skills are essential to long lasting behavior change. When working with individuals with special needs who have a history of trauma, there are some special considerations we should make when approaching how to teach these skills and how to respond to negative behaviors.
In this episode, Amanda Wilson and Danielle Lindquist share their expertise in this area on how to incorporate skill generalization, tips for collaborating with the entire team, and best practices for approaching this skill acquisition.
Amanda is a BCBA and School Psychologist and Danielle is a BCBA Special Education Teacher Consultant. They are the co-owners of Navigating Behavior Change which provides resources, professional development, and consultation on research and evidence-based strategies to teach and promote generalization of socially appropriate behaviors.
