On today’s episode we are joined by our guest and principal architect at Mcquaid Architects, Elaine Mcquaid. We discuss how to find an architect and the initial design brief. She tells us how she got started and why she went into architecture, and then we talk about our history of how we came to our current situation. Elaine talks about how you can work with an architect and the best things you can do to prepare, such as thinking about how you live your life, and then designing your home accordingly. She makes models of homes and explains why she chooses this method as opposed to a computer program or other methods.

“The thing we had in stage one that I was like, really, I like the way she works, you had in ‘This isn’t about getting the desired result in a certain number of meetings. It’s about getting the right result.’ It’s not tied, if we need to have as many meetings as we need to to get the right result.’ And I’m like, that’s important because so much emotion is attached to this. Homes are the biggest purchase that people generally make.” 34:50
