Within Rutland State Park there are the ruins of an abandoned state prison farm camp and former tuberculosis hospital. Between 1903 and 1934 this was home to hundreds of drunkards, vagrants, tramps and vagabonds, The growing power of the temperance movement put many drinkers on the outside of society.
