The hemp industry has been waiting patiently for the US Department of Agriculture to publish its Final Rule for Establishment of a Domestic Hemp Production Program.
And now it’s here. This week, USDA published the 300-page document that will guide states, tribes, and industry for years to come.
What’s in the Final Rule? How is it different from the Interim Final Rule? How will farmers be affected?
To find out, we talk to hemp farmer Ben Davies from Wildfox Provisions, Erica Stark from the National Hemp Association, and Courtney Moran, chief legal strategist for Agricultural Hemp Solutions.
They all agree that the Final Rule gives hemp farmers some much needed breathing room as it extends the harvest window from 15 days to 30 days and increases the negligence threshold from 0.5% to 1% THC.
But there’s a whole lot more to it than that. Give a listen.
