MR. POTATO HEAD Speaks to God. Luke 18:9 (S2-Episode #28)
Two Mr. POTATO HEADS speak to God. We get to see how they "dress" as they approach God. One self-justifies and ends up not justified. One puts on his humble "I'm sorry eyes"; he puts on his "I'm sorry feet"; he puts on his "I'm sorry arms"; he puts on his "I'm sorry lips".
For the humble Mr. Potato Head, something impossible happens. In a sense, God CHANGES HISTORY. Or, at least, God changes the way He VIEWS history. That is, God views this Potato Head as JUSTIFIED. That means 'just as if it didn't happen'; as if there was no violation that had taken place. At the end of the story, with his plea for MERCY, God actually gives Mr. Potato Head something he didn't have at the beginning of his dressing: JUSTIFICATION. This is the impossible part of the story. How can a righteous God view unrighteous Potato Heads as righteous? Stick around for the answer.
To conclude today, we will BE Mr. Potato Head. We will put on some sort of eyes, arms, feet and lips. Then we will approach the throne with something that hopefully resembles humility and repentance. If so, the IMPOSSIBLE may happen. We may walk away as JUSTIFIED. 'Just as if it didn't happen'. History may be changed. God may welcome us and view us differently. Wowser.
