Moment of Meditation: Rejected Cornerstone (Matthew 21:42-45)
''Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: "'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'? Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits. And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him." When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them (Matthew 21:42-45).''
Anyone in construction can tell you that the cornerstone is the most important part of the building. Not just because it can be engraved with the construction date. Because the entire foundation is set against and aligned with the cornerstone.
If the cornerstone is out of place, the entire building will be out of whack. Just as the foolish builder built his house on the sand (Matthew 7:26), the building built on a foundation with the cornerstone out of place will crumble.
Jesus is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. If we build our lives upon Him and His Word, our lives will be aligned properly with Him. If we reject Him as the cornerstone of our lives, we find ourselves on a shifting foundation that will cause us to slide right into the fires of Hell.
As the cornerstone of the one true faith, Jesus will either exalt you or crush you when He comes to judge the living and the dead. Are you built on Him as the cornerstone? Or have you rejected and replaced Him? Build on Christ and be blessed. Amen.
