Betrayal will happen sooner or later to everyone in life, no one is immune. When we think about betrayal the first person that comes to mind is Judas Iscariot who sold Jesus out for money, and finally with a treacherous kiss. However, the first ultimate betrayer is Satan who betrayed God Himself.
Betrayal is spoken as one of the most grievous sins in the final days. "Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death."
There is a kind of betrayal Jesus speaks about which vivifies the total corruption and break down of last days humanity. It is not your garden variety betrayal, it is a deadly one. Betrayal is one of the key instruments of the weaponry of Satan. It is one of Satan's most destructive devices that do more than just hurt other people. It has revenge at it's razor's edge and strikes a deadly blow to it's recipients.
Typically the betrayal comes from those closest to people, which makes it all the more devastating and shocking. Jesus knew that striking pain, because it was not just that Judas betrayed Him. He already knew from the beginning that he would. In a sense, it was the whole humanity that He created that betrayed Him in the end. Just 24 hours before they were hailing Him, "Jesus Son of David, blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord!" Only to hear those same voices the next day screaming "Crucify Him!"
Satan put it in the heart of Judas to betray Him, then later on Satan entered into him to empower that egregious act of betrayal. Jesus told Pontius Pilate regarding Judas that "it were better for that man that he had not been born." Never did the Lord say that about any other sin.
If you have been betrayed, then take heart. Your life will recover from it. As long as you keep your eyes on Jesus Christ, He will keep you from going into deep into despair and long protracted sorrow. The pathway to healing from betrayal is the narrow path, in forgiving, and cleaving to Jesus. He will heal your life and you will shine once again in a brighter way in the kingdom of our Father and His Son. He will see to that.
