One day us powerhouse women wake up, break a sweat, forget where we just put our keys three minutes ago, need a nap 2 hours into the day and are momentarily triggered by rage over a glass of spilt milk... can someone turn on the aircon over here?
Welcome to menopause. What strikes me as odd is that something can be so taboo, when it is a natural life experience that ALL women go through at some point. What I didn't realise is that the vast majority of women enter this phase of life feeling completely alone, unsupported and lack the resources on how to manage life amidst the changes and symptoms that come with it.
You guys (when I say guys, this time I mean girls) asked for this episode specifically... So I found Thea O'Connor who's working hard in the space to provide resources and implement good practice and break the silence in workplaces.
We talk about how (and when) we might prepare ourselves to alleviate some of the symptoms. About how workplaces can support and normalise the conversation around menopause and how it's not all just bad news and mood swings but how we can flip the coin and harness the beauty of this stage of our lives.
I hope this episode is a useful resource for my girl tribe out there and I hope that the blokes give it a listen and find some value in understanding how they can support us too.
