Happy Black Breastfeeding Week! On tonight's episode Good Moms are joined by Midwife, Racha Tahini Lawler CPM, CM, LM. Racha discusses her experience and 17 year journey navigating the midwifery world as a black woman. Formerly working in hospitals and also as a Midwife, Racha has seen and experienced the racism bestowed upon pregnant WOC in the healthcare system and breaks down the dark history of the wet nurse in slavery. Good Moms and Racha also discuss cellular and sexual trauma and how it can influence a woman's fear of breastfeeding. Community plays its part in the lack of support for breastfeeding as well and Racha and Good Moms discuss the reasons why breastfeeding is widely deemed unnecessary or undesirable in the black community. This episode was super informative, emotional (Erica might have cried), and we are so grateful to have such a knowledgable midwife on GMBC to discuss a widely undiscussed topic.@crimson_fig@goodmoms_badchoices.comIf you haven't yet, please RATE & REVIEW our Podcast on Apple.
