Kristin Jekielek is the founder of Value Video Marketing. Today, she will show us how to create this business from her own failures, being that the business she has now is a product of her being able to pivot from a failure. Even though resilience coaching was her passion, she saw the opportunity for video production based on the demand that she got from people around her. Kristin also has a degree in astrophysics.
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
Episode Highlights:
What to Do When You Feel Stuck and You Need to Transition
A lot of people get stuck in where they are that they spend so much time just trying to salvage whatever business they're creating. They think they’re going to let other people down when really, everybody else too, is just building their own business.
You can't just do it willy nilly. You can't be flighty nor should you be flaky about it. You just have to be smart, intentional and do your due diligence. And sometimes, when the universe is hitting you over the head with something, you've got to listen. Unfortunately, though, we miss the signs no matter how large because they're just not in the shape that we want them to be.
The Benefits of Incorporating Videos Into Your Marketing
Video marketing helps give a big boost in your engagement on social. People are going to experience you as this 360-person because of video. We all have so many text posts coming at our emails each day. And we have so many staged photos coming on us. But whenever you can get on video, and you can have a voice with mannerisms and a certain style of professionalism and speaking, that you become so much more real and more memorable to your audience. With video, it helps set you up as a trusted authority way faster than just text and photos ever will.
Videos Done Well vs. Videos Not Done Well
Lighting and audio are important, obviously. But you have to be saying something that people care about that's relevant and interesting. Be able to teach people how to use that information in their lives and how to get value out of the information that you're sharing. And whenever you can do both of those things, you become an authority in someone else's mind.
It's when we think that video is different than an in-person presentation that we get ourselves in trouble. When really, it’s just about getting yourself in that same energy, same mindset, same posture, and same projection of your voice as you would if you were there with them in person and replicating that in a slightly unnatural setting where you just be sitting alone in your room.
