Multiple Myeloma

We have a great show that will provide all of the answers on a disease called Multiple Myeloma. You will hear from Dr. Parameswaran Hari, Chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at MCW, along with Dr. Binod Dhakal, who is an Associate Professor in this division and an expert in what is called CAR T-cell therapy. Myeloma is a cancer of certain blood cells (the plasma cells, a form of white blood cell) – and can be very confusing as your blood and bone marrow are everywhere - different than your colon, lung or pancreas. Drs. Hari and Dhakal provide a comprehensive understanding of this complex disease. They are joined by two of their patients who underwent bone marrow transplants – and one of their patients received the new treatment referred to as CAR T-cell therapy, which is simply amazing. The treatments that these two patients received would not have occurred anywhere else in Wisconsin – true cutting edge and life-saving treatments!
