186. Managing pregnancy after previous miscarriages
Managing pregnancy after previous miscarriages can be quite challenging.
In this episode, Prof talks about what you and your doctor can do to improve your chances of a successful pregnancy.
He discusses progesterone — a hormone worth measuring because it keeps the uterus relaxed and also reflects the way your ovaries respond to your pregnancy.
Symptoms like nausea are often a reassuring sign that the hormones are doing their job. Nausea usually starts at around the five or six-week mark in pregnancy and peaks out at around nine weeks.
Not experiencing nausea? This doesn’t mean your pregnancy is doing badly.
A fortunate 15 percent of women experience nausea and the absence of these symptoms is not always indicative of a problem with the pregnancy.
Prof’s advice around lifestyle, exercise, and diet is to keep things as normal as possible. Moderation is key.
Prof also discusses ultrasounds, an optimistic approach, the importance of close monitoring, and lots more.
