There's over 3 million shipwrecks worldwide and we've only explored 1% of them. Shipwrecks are attractive to many different organisms, from the actual fish that turn wrecks into reef habitats, to treasure hunters looking to pull billions of dollars worth of lost booty from the ocean floor. They can be graves and memorials to soldiers lost in war, and many shipwrecks have a cultural and historical significance that help us fill in the archeological record thousands of years in the past. In this episode we look at a few fascinating shipwrecks and their effects on society at large.
