Koeman put the same exact lineup and formation on the pitch against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey as he did in La Liga, and it kept Sevilla from scoring. Barcelona's goals came from pure individual performance though, rather than tactics. The 3:0 win was enough to go into extra time, and eventually on to the final where they will play Athletic Club.
On the weekend, it was the same formation with only two small personnel changes against Osasuna. An unlikely crack of a goal from Jordi Alba would have been enough to get the win, but Ilaix Moriba opened his account at Barcelona in the 83rd minute to finish out the game 2:0.
With PSG coming this week in Champions League, Koeman might field the same 3-5-2 formation he's become so fond of, but that won't be enough to make up the goal deficit they're currently facing. |
