S3E11 Jeff Calhoun Broadway Director (Newsies, Bonnie and Clyde) Fear of Becoming Irrelevant, Building Bridges to Transcend Labels and Stigmas, and Universality of Art and Sports...
Jeff Calhoun is the Broadway Director for Newsies, Bonnie and Clyde, Jekyll and Hyde, Deaf West's Theater Big River and more. He also directed Dolly Parton's 9-5 and Disney's High School Musical 1 and 2. He is an Associate artist for Ford's Theater Washington and serves on the Board of Directors for Covenant House International (not- for-profit helping homeless youth in 30 cities and 6 countries).
Jeff is very humble about his accomplishments but he has a depth of wisdom on everything from the challenge of creating a musical with half of the actors being hearing and half of them being deaf (think about that for a second...), how to build bridges between groups of people that can transcend labels, stigmas, and beliefs, and what it means to be an artist.
There is a lot of gold in this conversation...
