Hiram Page is best remembered among Latter-day Saints as the subject of the revelation given to Joseph Smith now canonized as section 28 of the Doctrine and Covenants where the Lord appoints Joseph Smith as the only one authorized to receive revelation on behalf of the whole Church. However, Page is also counted among the eight witnesses who hefted the plates from which the Book of Mormon was translated and gave their names to the world to testify to the plates' reality. This KnoWhy tracks Page's contributions to the Restoration--including his abiding witnesses to the Book of Mormon's divinity--up to his early death in the 1850s.
