Trailer: Divest Princeton Special Episode Series
Divestment movements have been around for a while. It started with protests against South African apartheid in the early 1970s, and then evolved into the 2006 protests about Darfur. Today, Divest Princeton is demanding that Princeton University divest from fossil fuels. It’s also targeting Princeton’s deals with huge fossil fuel companies like Exxon and BP. But some climate scientists at Princeton, whose researched is often funded by these deals, don’t necessarily think divestment is the best option.
As both sides advocate their cause, Daybreak dives deep into the history of the Divest Princeton movement, and into the debate reverberating through campus today. Stay tuned for a special episode series, coming out soon.
This trailer features Hannah Reynolds '22, Tom Taylor MPA2, and Professor Stephen Pacala, the Frederick D. Petrie Professor in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University. Reynolds is a columnist for the Daily Princetonian.
