Dr. David Schonfeld is a developmental-behavioral pediatrician and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He has provided consultation and training on school crisis and pediatric bereavement for over 30 years in the aftermath of numerous school crisis events and disasters within the United States and abroad, including the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School community of Coral Springs/Parkland, FL. In this episode he shares why it's so important to proactively equip communities, including schools, with tools that allow teachers and administrators to do their jobs without having to fall into a role they were never prepped for: crisis counseling. This is a must listen for every community.
