Astronaut Terry Virts | Is Climate Change Real?
A retired Colonel of the U.S. Air Force, Terry Virts is an accomplished astronaut who has served on two spaceflights. He also directed his first film, One More Orbit, in 2019 and has written a book titled How to Astronaut, which has received excellent reviews. Apart from these, he is currently engaged in multiple film and television projects, serves on corporate boards, consults for the entertainment industry, and promotes public policy.
Having graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Harvard Business School, Virts is a celebrated thought leader, speaker, and author. During his seven months in space, he piloted the Space Shuttle, commanded the International Space Station, performed three spacewalks, and conducted scientific experiments while working closely with multiple international partners. He also worked alongside Russian Space Agency cosmonauts during a time of intense U.S.-Russian tension, comparable to the Cold War.
During his time in space, Virts took over 300,000 photographs, which is more than any other astronaut. These images are a crucial part of the National Geographic IMAX film "A Beautiful Planet", which Virts not only shot but also starred in. His first book for National Geographic, "View From Above", combines his best photography with accounts of his spaceflight experiences and his thoughts on life on Earth and our place in the universe.
Virts is a highly sought-after speaker at events worldwide, where he shares his space stories and his insights into life on Earth. He offers a unique perspective to businesses on a wide range of subjects, including the environment, global wealth, intercultural leadership, crisis and risk management, innovation, strategy and vision, and decision-making.
