On this episode, Amber is joined by Zarina Poonawalla, host of The Empowering Series podcast, peak performance coach and emotional intelligence practitioner.
They talk about how religion and renting in the city of Mumbai become intertwined in a particularly dark way. They discuss whether it's legal to be refused a house on rent because of your religion. Zarina talks through personal experiences from the time she and her husband were house hunting and were told that, "Muslims aren't allowed." They also talk about the veg-nonveg buildings - where certain buildings or building housing societies don't allow non-vegetarian food to be brought in. This kind of inter-religion discrimination has become rampant in a lot of housing societies in Mumbai among several religions - where they don't want people of other religions to move into their buildings. What are the laws that exist or lack thereof to protect potential tenants against this?
Amber breaks this pressing issue down from a law perspective and tells us what one can do in such a predicament.
