Moses set out on the journey back to Egypt, as God instructed him to do. But God sought Moses' life because they hadn't kept the covenant with God - they weren't circumcised. Circumcision was one of the visible signs that God commanded His Old Testament people to do to every male as a reminder that they were God’s people. Did Moses escape God's anger? Who saved him?
Our Bible reading is Exodus 4:18-31.
"But I will harden his heart so he will not let the people go."Exodus 4:21b
Circumcision
Circumcision did involve the shedding of blood, pain, and a little suffering for males, since it could only to be done to males. It was an action God commanded His people to do in order to be part of His covenant. Whenever they saw the circumcision, it reminded them they were God’s people. Circumcision in the Old Testament, in the Old Covenant for God’s People, was also a foreshadowing to the shedding of Jesus’ blood on the cross for us!
