For the royally obsessed debutante, nothing is more enviable than to be presented at court. But such a high honor comes with a steep price.
Doris Duke is one of 17 Americans to bow and curtsey to King George V and Queen Mary at Buckingham Palace. The court presentation is a high honor that will make Doris one of the most notable debutantes of her season. The unmarried Prince of Wales is also in attendance.
Other people and subjects include: Nanaline Duke, Buck Duke, Mrs. Charles Dawes, Elizabeth “Betty” Kent, Prince Albert “Bertie” – Duke of York, Prince David – Prince of Wales, Queen Charlotte’s Ball, London Season, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip – Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Margaret, Joseph Kennedy, end of debutantes at court, more recent rise of debutante balls, and debutantes & debutante balls in pop culture (Made in Chelsea, Downton Abbey, The Crown, & Bridgerton).
