Acts 16: 22- 34 tells the story of the salvation of the jailer who witnesses an earthquake that opens the doors to the jail where Paul and Silas had been thrown into after being beaten by the magistrates and the crowd of Philippi. Instead of killing himself as he intended watching the jail had been open while he slept, he receives an act of mercy by Paul who shouts they have not left the jail. In the face of such grace, the jailer wants to be baptized and he takes Paul and Silas to his home, bathes their wounds and he and his household are baptized. After being bitten,Paul and Silas sing psalms of praise to God. The singing causes the earthquake. In Psalm 138, We sing your right hand saves me a Lord,I will give thanks to your Lord with all my heart for you have heard the words of my mouth in the presence of the angels I will sing your praises. Jesus is about to ascend so that the Holy Spirit may return. We pray “come Holy Spirit.”
