When you create and work together and are also a couple, what makes this kind of love special and challenging?
Today we have another couple, who are both accomplished, world class musicians, Elena Urioste and Tom Poster. Elena Urioste is a musician, yogi, writer, and entrepreneur. As a violinist, she has given acclaimed performances as soloist with many major orchestras including the London Philharmonic and BBC Symphony She’s performed as a featured soloist in Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium, given recitals at the Kennedy Center. Elena is a former BBC New Generation Artist.
The release of Elena’s second album on BIS Records, Estrellita, with Elena on violin and pianist Tom Poster; her creative partner and husband. An avid chamber musician, Elena is also the founder and Artistic Director of Chamber Music by the Sea, an annual festival on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, which has a strong commitment to education, involving young local musicians in both outreach activities and in the concerts themselves. Tom Poster is a musician whose skills and passions extend well beyond the conventional role of the concert pianist. Since his London concerto debut at the age of 13, Tom has appeared in a wide-ranging concerto repertoire and has appeared as soloist with the BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony and many more.Tom features regularly on BBC radio and television, and as soloist on film soundtracks, including the Oscar-nominated score for The Theory of Everything.
