Welcome back to ArtBeat Radio! You’re listening to episode 13 of Quarantunes, where quarantine can’t stop our creativity! In this episode, we hear musical expression from ART Center.
The songs from this Quarantunes episode were all started in 2019-2020, but were finished in 2021. The reason they are being released just now is because the files were recently recovered. The virtual music creation class then put some finishing touches to the songs.
(0:27) "Hello Song"
In this song, many artists from ART Center recorded their voices by saying “hello” in their own way. The class also made choices on the style of music, which loops to use, as well recording original parts.
(1:56) "Fuuuunk"
The class thought it would be fun to make something everyone could dance to. They chose a catchy piano riff and a funky bass to get the song going. Throughout the song, many artists are playing the drums and synths through a midi keyabord.
(3:23) "June"
The class wanted to create something relaxing. With this song, many artists were playing with a midi keyboard to get the sounds that they were wanting, such as: trumpet, clarinet, synthesizers, flute, french horn, keyboard, strings, piano, and bass. Live drums and vocals can also be heard in the song.
(6:29) "Good Memories"
The class was introduced to sampling right before they began this project. The class chose an artist and song that really liked and the result was Elvis Presley’s Memories. In the song, the class chose parts that they liked from the original track and put their own spin on it by adding drums and vocals. While making the song, the class focused on good memories.
