In today's episode, Robin will discuss Reserve and National Gaurd service members and if they are eligible for VA disability benefits. The 38CFR states Veterans are eligible for compensation if a disability occurred on active duty military service, so when do Reserve and Guard members qualify for benefits? Active duty members are on the clock 24/7 and 365 days a year, whereas Reserve and Gaurd are on standby and only actively training one weekend a month or two weekends a year. The VA treats these Veterans differently. However, Reserve and Guard members can be eligible for VA compensation in some cases.
