Moment of Meditation: Sheep Scattered (Matthew 26:31)
''And the sheep of the flock will be scattered (Matthew 26:31)''
Sheep love their shepherd. When the Shepherd is smitten, the sheep scatter. Just as the Apostles would do when Jesus is arrested.
Without the shepherd, the sheep don't know where to go. They have no one to follow. So they go to the four corners. Any direction that would take them away from the wolves.
The greatest betrayal was that one of their own was a wolf in sheep's clothing. Judas brought the wolves to take out the Shepherd. The wolves scattered the sheep. They later regrouped, but they were still scared of the wolves coming after them.
Jesus rises to regather the sheep. They came together in fear. He gives them boldness. He gathers them under His care and brings them to their eternal pasture in safety. Amen.
