Two for the Road: Movies with Matt and Adam
TV & Film:Film Reviews
74: The Last Picture Show (1971) and Being There (1979)
Text Matt & Adam!
Matt's gives Adam two films from the 70's this week. Peter Bogdanovich's "The Last Picture Show" (1971), filmed in black and white, is the story about a dying Texas town in the early fifties. Both M&A thought it was original, well written and a must view. Peter Sellers last good film "Being There" (1979), directed by the great Hal Ashby, was a labor of love. Sellers tried throughout the 70's to get made. Adam like it, but didn't love it as much as Matt (one of his favorites), as he thought it was a little slow and repetitive. Peter Sellers gives an a wonderful understated performance as the "brilliant" idiot, Chauncey Gardner.
Adam has Matt watch two from the 90's is next with Trainspotting (1996) and American Pie (1999)
