Ep.12 Stress or Digest | How Stress Impacts Digestion
During this show I go over what we can do during times of stress. Currently in the world we are facing several stressors, from environmental crises to political division to coronavirus-related tensions and fears. Stress has a direct effect upon our digestive system. When our “fight or flight” stress response is activated constantly and repetitively for months and months, our digestive system begins to suffer. This happens due to our energy being taken away from processing food to managing whatever environmental “threats” we are facing, even if it’s merely getting frustrated with someone while driving. In the long-term this severely weakens our digestive abilities, especially when paired with the damages we incur from all the herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, hormones, antibiotics, and additives beings placed in the foods we consume. Over time, our cell walls become chronically inflamed and swollen shut so that vitamins and nutrients cannot get into our cells while toxins cannot get released out. This chronic inflammation is what causes chronic disease.
