In this episode of the Italian Citizenship Podcast, hosts Marco Permunian, an Italian citizenship attorney and founder of Italian Citizenship Assistance (ICA), along with dual citizen and content creator, Rafael Di Furia discuss a largely unknown topic about the situation for women who had an Italian husband or a husband eligible for recognition of Italian citizenship by descent and got married before 1983. These women were in a particular situation due to the fact their citizenship was recognized automatically because of the laws in place at the time. This may not only affect the citizenship status and eligibility of the wife of an Italian married before 1983, but may also create a unique situation for their children in the case where the Italian husband naturalized before the birth of their children. In this episode, Marco and Rafael also discuss how this category of being eligible for citizenship would differ from many women today gaining citizenship Italian through naturalization (Jure Matrimonii).
