Earth Minute: G7 Summit 2021

Today on Sojourner Truth: The Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, joint coordinator of the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, joins us to discuss their anti-poverty efforts as well as a congressional resolution which calls for the Third Reconstruction of the United States. He also discusses an upcoming virtual March on Washington. President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin are meeting. This follows Biden's trip to Europe for a meeting of the world's Western powers, known as the G7 Summit. We discuss what came out of the Summit, its wider implications and what this all portends for the United States and the world. Our guest is Dr. Gerald Horne, Moores Professor of History & African-American Studies at the University of Houston, who has written more than 30 books. Starting July 15, families with children 17 years old and younger will start getting child tax credit payments on a monthly payment from the U.S. government.
