019 - Creating Podcast & Gaming Music with Brandon, the Ghost of Red Mountain
Hello & Welcome to Episode 19 of Roll Play Grow, the podcast for tabletop entrepreneurs, creators, and fans. I am Courtney Stover of Lightheart Adventures, and in this podcast, we talk to the creators behind the brands in the tabletop roleplay gaming space about who they are and how they are turning their passion for gaming into a career.
We are on our third episode of the sound series, chatting with Brandon Calhoun, the composer of Ghost of Red Mountain. Brandon travels back and forth between Korea and Alaska for work but manages to create some beautiful music pieces wherever he goes. We chat about his processes for working on collaborations, considerations for composing for podcasts and streams, creating the compositions, and some future goals. I’ve linked to a couple of the pieces he mentions in the show notes, and I highly recommend you go check them out to get a feel of his creations.
Real quick, I’ve got a few items of business to go over before we jump into the interview. If this is your first time tuning in to the show, welcome. This podcast is a part of Lightheart Adventures, which is a small company I co-founded with my husband. We offer a weekly blog on our website where you’ll find tips for running games, free monthly one-shot adventures, product reviews, and more. You’ll find the blog at lightheartadventures.com Brenton also creates beautiful dungeon maps, and I’m excited to announce that the Rime of the Frostmaiden map pack I’ve mentioned in the last few episodes hit silver at DM’s Guild! Thank you all for your support, and I hope y’all enjoy using those maps in your Icewind Dale adventures. To pick up a copy for yourself or explore our other packs, you can find all of our map packs by either going to DMsguild.com and searching for Lightheart Adventures as the author, or you can go to lightheartadventures.com/shop to find all our DM’s Guild and DrivethruRPG publications in one spot.
Some other ways you can support us and this show are by checking out our Patreon, subscribing to this show, leaving a review, and checking out our affiliate links. One of those affiliates is Friday Afternoon Tea. We recently got to visit her shop and meet Friday in person, and it was so cool to officially meet her. We came home with quite the treasure trove of tea, and I’ve been working my way through them over the past couple weeks. I have yet to find one I don’t like, but inching towards the favorites list is the Critical Blend tea. It’s blue, sparkly, tastes like vanilla, and full of joy. To try any of her teas, go to fridaytea.com, enter in code LightheartADV to receive 10% off your order, and help support this show.
