Ferguson was permitted to act ruthlessly with his squad which he did by taking the decision to end the United careers of players he'd brought in - a sure sign that he was safe in the job after the turmoil of the turn of the decade. Additionally, there is a look at the team who were really on the perch - Arsenal - and the bad blood which had been brewing over the previous decade.
