Native grasses: How they can work in the Central West plains

David and Suellen Taylor run merino sheep and grow dual-purpose oats across 1,600 ha on their property Myola, just out of Trundle, NSW.

David describes the environment they live and work in as highly variable. And in this episode, you’ll hear him explain how this variability has shaped the natural environment, creating a unique native grassland system and influencing the production decisions he makes at Myola.

You’ll also hear about David's personal journey to better understand the ecosystem in which he farms. He explains how long term observations, undertaking his Masters and PhD studies and ongoing local research have helped to form a new appreciation and respect for the diversity and resilience of the grasslands on the Central West Plains.
